Dance With the Devil Marathon

Cape Naturaliste 7:00am start

Drive to Dunsborough, and then take the road to Cape Naturaliste. Start position is near the trail head, which is well marked.

Semi supported run with support stations at Rabbits (North Yallingup (12.0km), Wyadup car park (20.4km) and Moses Rock car park (30.4km). Runners will be able to leave a bag containing spare drink bottles and food with marshal at start and have it available at Wyadup and the finish only. Marathon runners will also probably want to meet at Margaret River at 5.30am or Cowaramup at 5.45am for a lift to Cape Naturaliste on the bus.

We would expect all marathon competitors to be either experienced trail runners or marathon runners. Expect to take 50% longer to complete this course that a flat road course.

Marathon competitors should carry water, food, a map of the course (if necessary), and basic first aid equipment. Course is exposed to sun, so carry sun protection if warm.

While marked, runners can easily miss direction markers. Marathon runners are encouraged to carry a map and the navigation aid sheet provided, or walk the part of the 2nd leg - Yallingup (or Smiths Beach) to Wyadup (7km) the day before, as this is probably the hardest section. (For both running and navigation).

Time limit on Marathon Runners (3 hours at Wyadup and 4:45 hours at Moses Rock). If distressed tell another runner what you are going to do. Try not to backtrack - try to head for the next aid station. Do not leave the trail unless someone knows - otherwise we will never find you. Do not attempt a new leg if you are distressed - this run does not get easier. The last leg is no place to be if you feel unwell - it is long and there is no easy exit.
